President Donald Trump took to social media on Monday to declare that Israel and Iran have agreed to a cease-fire.
“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!” the president announced on Truth Social. “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now,” Trump continued in his post, “when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!”
Neither Israeli nor Iranian officials have yet to confirm such a deal.
Trump congratulated both countries on “having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR.’”
“This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!” he added. “God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
His announcement was met with praise from some Republicans, with Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks suggesting that “Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.”
On Saturday, Trump announced that the US launched preemptive strikes on multiple nuclear sites in Iran, which has been trading attacks with Israel since June 13. Following the U.S. attacks on Iran, Trump demanded that Iran “now make peace,” and threatened that “If they do not. Future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier.”

However, just months ago, Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, testified to Congress that American intelligence “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon.”
Iran reportedly targeted American military bases in Qatar and Iraq on Monday following the US strikes.
