The future is here – when it comes to beverages, anyway. Cana One’s new ‘beverage printer’ has the ability to make virtually any drink – including hard seltzers, energy drinks, and wine from scratch – which means no fiddly concentrate top-ups.
Classified as the world’s first molecular beverage printer, the concept behind Cana One is technical. Basically, the machine combines molecules that are found in common drinks and mixes them with water. All that’s required is a single cartridge, which can create thousands of different beverages and the push of a button. The end result? Your favourite drink created in less than a minute and with practically zero waste.
If that’s not impressive enough, the smart machine doesn’t only make your favourite drink it allows you to customise it, too. You can reduce or add sugar, adjust alcohol percentage, add supplements, and combine flavours to create a completely personalised beverage.
The cutting-edge creation comes from alums of Nike, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Google and Apple, and is, unsurprisingly, a Silicon Valley startup.
Aside from the obvious convenience factor, Cana One dramatically reduces waste, as there is no need for plastic, aluminum, glass, or other containers. The company’s mission is to “change the way the world produces and consumes stuff every day, starting with beverages.”
After all, the beverage and bottling sector creates 2 trillion yearly containers, mostly disposed of improperly, leading to environmental harm, and carbon emissions, and contributing to the global trash crisis.
Of course, a kitchentop machine that can create thousands of drinks is convenient. But, the brand takes it one step further. When the cartridge that has the beverage molecules begins to run low, Cana will automatically be notified and a new one will be shipped straight to the customer’s door.
It should come as little surprise that the futuristic gadget is already generating a lot of hype, and it hasn’t even been released yet.
