Following its inaugural success last year, children’s charity Barnardos Australia will again host an art show in Sydney this month.
Taking place at at the National Art School’s Cellblock Theatre in Darlinghurst on Thursday March 20th, this year’s event will showcase artworks donated from young artists around Australia with the theme of ‘Horizons of Hope.’
“‘Horizons of Hope’ embodies Barnardos determination to shape a brighter future for children, young people and families who don’t have a place to call home,” Barnardos said in a statement.
“It reflects the commitment of our partners and supporters to create a lasting impact that opens the door to a limitless potential for young Australians.
“With a growing number of young people at risk of becoming homeless due to family violence and abuse, Barnardos is working towards a future where every young person safe and secure.”
The art show will feature works from new and returning artists including Antoinette Ferwerda, Bobby Clark, Gemma O’Brien, George Hall, Ken Done, Kitiya Palaskas, Micke Lindbergh, Mike Staniford and Rahkela.
“I wanted to be one small thread in a larger tapestry of hope that Barnardos is weaving together for young children in need,” Rahkela said.
“To give back the gift of what has been bestowed to me, is there anything greater than that? Before being asked to be in this show last year, I was not familiar with the work. of Barnardos. Now I am of course and I am extremely thankful for the deep need that is being met through Barnardos.”
Barnardos will also host an online auction for the day, which is open now and closes at 10pm on March 20th. Click here for more details.
Tickets, which include drinks and canapes, can be purchased now, while some of the fee will go towards an art purchase.
