In Partnership with Sydney Opera House & Vivid LIVE

It’s that time again. Autumn is setting in, which means Sydney is ready to swap beach days for cosy, cultural activities. What better excuse to plan a trip into the city than for live music at the Sydney Opera House?

Luckily for all, Vivid LIVE is back in 2024 with a spectacular program of live music.

The annual event, curated by Ben Marshall for the ninth consecutive year, is part of Vivid Sydney, Australia’s largest festival of light, music, ideas and food and stands as a major celebration of our homegrown creative talent.

Running from May 24th to June 15th, Vivid LIVE is set to transform the iconic Sydney Opera House into a hub of contemporary music. Over 50 Australian and international artists have been announced on a stacked 2024 Vivid LIVE line-up. No doubt, there’s something for everyone.

With so much on offer, where to begin? Here are six acts you won’t want to miss.

1. Arca

Among the headline acts this year, Arca stands out with her genre-defying performances. The Venezuelan-born, Barcelona-based artist is making her Australian debut at Vivid LIVE for one night only, bringing her unique electronic pop music to the Opera House.

Known for her avant-garde approach, producing for the likes of Björk, FKA Twigs, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean, Arca blends experimental sounds with haunting visuals, creating a performance that is anything but ordinary.

2. Sid Sriram, Priya Ragu & Raf-Saperra

Astral People, the innovative artist management and tastemakers, are returning to Vivid LIVE to present Spice Trail. They’re bringing a multi-talented trio of artists – Sid Sriram, Priya Ragu, and Raf-Saperra – to headline their massive party at this year’s festival.

Audiences can expect a dynamic feast of music from across the globe. Sid Sriram blends Indian music with modern soul and big vocals, Priya Ragu delivers an infusion of Tamil culture with contemporary R&B, soul, and vibrant electro beats, and South-London native Raf-Saperra lights up the stage with energetic Bhangra beats.

3. Fever Ray

Fever Ray, the stage alias of Swedish singer Karin Dreijer, is another must-see act at Vivid LIVE. Get ready to enter their enigmatic world, where electronic and synth-pop music becomes a theatrical spectacle.

After two decades as one half of experimental electronic dance duo, The Knife, this is your chance to see Fever Ray own the stage in Sydney. Known for their mesmerising visuals, ethereal voice, and mysterious out-of-this-work looks, Fever Ray promises a night of high-energy and transformative music. A total bucket list event.

4. Devonté Hynes & the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

In a special collaboration with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Devonté Hynes, better known as Blood Orange, will bring his futuristic classical sound to Vivid LIVE for an Australian-exclusive performance.

A true polymath talent with roots in R&B, indie, and experimental jazz, Hynes has been a force in the pop world, working with huge names including A$AP Rocky, Florence and the Machine, FKA Twigs, and Kylie Minogue. This performance is set to highlight Hynes’ versatility and skill as a composer, a rare opportunity to witness a different side of his musical range alongside the incredible Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by Matthew Lynch.
