Blending shimmering guitars, candid lyricism, and warm, ethereal vocals, the Adelaide born and based artist has built a sonic world where vulnerability, devotion and self-discovery sit at the centre of every song.
Over the past two years, she’s steadily turned heads with releases including “Moon Made”, “Higher Gear”, and her new release “Hidden Treasure”, earning support slots alongside acts like Teenage Joans and appearances at WOMADelaide while cultivating a devoted following.
Her debut EP, Libra Rising, is due out this September, marking the culmination of a breakout run that has established her as one of South Australia’s most exciting new voices. That momentum is set to continue with her first-ever headline shows, as well as all-ages pop-up events designed to give younger fans a chance to connect outside traditional live music venues.
The Mentos Fresh Sounds Class of ’26, curated by Rolling Stone AU/NZ, has officially been unveiled — and now we’re turning the spotlight to even more artists making serious noise. As part of our Up-And-Coming Australian Artists series, we caught up with effie isobel ahead of the release of Libra Rising.

Rolling Stone AU/NZ: Where are you from?
I’m based in Adelaide/Kaurna Land.
Describe your ‘Fresh Sound’ in three words.
Dreamy, driving and devotional.
Name three of your biggest musical influences.
Dora Jar, beabadoobee and Holly Humberstone.
Tell us about your latest release.
My latest release is a song called “Hidden Treasure”. It came to be in the middle of a transformational period in my life. This song is about being in the liminal space where you’re not where you used to be, but you haven’t quite reached your next destination. It’s whimsical and cathartic, with a driving lead line and twinkly wind chimes.
This song is the last single from my debut EP Libra Rising. This collection of songs is a journey into a world I’ve handcrafted with so much love, it’s ethereal, it’s euphoric and I can’t wait to share it. Libra Rising is yours on September 4th!
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
Underscores, she is my most listened to artist since the U album came out.
What’s your dream venue to play?
I keep having literal dreams about playing in a forest, does that count? I’m envisioning a low stage in a clearing of tall pine trees, lots of dancing and colourful lights. I also LOVE an old theatre, Her Majesty’s in Adelaide, The Forum in Melbourne, or the Princess Theatre in Brisbane.
What one thing do you think the Australian music industry needs right now and why?
Real and earnest connection and community, this is such a priority for me in my music. We all know algorithms and metrics are occupying a bit too much brainspace for a lot of us. When you take all of that away, the reason most of us make music in the first place is to share our hearts, share our stories and better relate with one another.
What’s coming up for you in 2026 and beyond?
I have just announced the Libra Rising tour! I’ll be coming to Sydney and Melbourne, and finishing the tour in Adelaide with a hometown show. This tour will take place in September, i’ll be playing songs from my EP as well as some unreleased music, alongside my beautiful band. This is my first ever tour and I can’t wait to sing these songs for you!
Alongside these headline shows, I’m so excited to be hosting under 18 pop-ups in both Sydney and Melbourne, these events include a meet and greet, a few acoustic songs and a chance to check out my merch. Young people often lack access to traditional music venues, that’s why I love doing these events! They’re casual, wholesome and an opportunity to hang out and make new friends!
