Up-and-coming Australian artist Lucky is set to make waves when she heads overseas this September for Europe’s famous Reeperbahn Festival.
Less than two years into her career, the Melbourne songwriter has already performed at popular local events like BIGSOUND, Beyond the Valley, King Street Crawl and St Kilda Festival, SXSW in Texas, and even opened for international heavyweights Garbage late last year on their own headline run.
Now, after a sold-out national tour in support of her debut EP, Biting Heels, Lucky will head to Germany for Reeperbahn.
“Announcing my first national headline tour was both exciting and very nerve-racking,” she told Rolling Stone AU/NZ.
“I had no idea what to expect. Selling out the shows in advance and having people turn up with so much energy just blew my mind. Watching videos from the shows made me giggle, not realising how loud the crowd was. It’s very special and quite humbling.
“I’m heading to Europe for the first time this year, which I can’t believe is happening. Being able to travel to all these places, like the US for SXSW, and now Europe for Reeperbahn Festival, feels so exciting and crazy. We’re also working on some headline shows while I’m there, which feels like another big step, so I’m really eager to see how they go.
“I’ve only been Lucky for 18 months, so it’s a bit overwhelming how fast everything has moved. I’ve learnt and experienced so much. It’s been a dream to finally have a body of work out there, establishing myself as an artist to the world. Now that Biting Heels is out and I get to go to all these places to tour, it’s got me very inspired to start exploring, experimenting, and writing the next record.”
