Borderline are ready to share their highly anticipated debut album.
Announced today, the self-titled record will arrive on June 26th via EMPIRE, and will feature recent singles “Terrify”, “Tainted”, and “Watching It Burn”.
New single “That Girl”, out today, also features on the tracklist (listen below).
“‘That Girl’ leans so hard into our love of ‘80s over the top instrumentation,” Borderline explain. “It’s littered with live vintage synths, sounds, and Michael Jackson / Prince inspired vocals. We are all so proud of how this song came together in the studio. The result of four musicians not shying away from self-indulgence.
“‘That Girl’ is a great representation of our musicianship, and what happens when we let loose a bit on our instruments and just have fun.”

Their debut album is “something we’re all incredibly proud of,” the band say.

“It’s the sum of every single corner of musical inspiration from all four of us. Every song has its own character and place for us, shaped through sessions in home studios and late nights, before coming together in Roundhead’s Brick Room, taking advantage of the vintage synths and time piece guitars, as we explored and refined the overarching soundscape for the project.”
Before their album drops in June, Borderline will find out if they’ve won big at the 2026 Aotearoa Music Awards this month. They’re nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Pop Artist, with the latter category featuring genre superstars Lorde and BENEE.
Borderline, who just returned home to Aotearoa after completing a massive 14-date tour across the US and Canada, formed in Auckland and features Ben Glanfield (guitar, vocals, keys), Jackson Boswell (drums, vocals), Matthew McFadden (lead guitar), and Max Harries (bass).
The four musicians have been friends since childhood, first releasing music together while still in high school. Their debut single “Spinning”, released in 2022 when the band members were just 16, landed on the Hot 40 Singles chart and the Radioscope Most Added charts.
Since then, the band’s rise has been rapid, and Borderline closed out 2025 with two singles landing in the top 10 New Zealand songs on radio.
Borderline’s “That Girl” is out now. Their self-titled debut album is out June 26th via EMPIRE (pre-save/pre-add here).
