Zayn Malik has revealed that he’s in the hospital. The pop star shared the news on his Instagram stories with a photo of himself in a hospital gown and bed. He also included a note to his fans:
“Thank you to all of you for your love & support now & always — been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering,” he wrote. “Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week, I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding,” Malik added.
The singer went on to thank “the incredible hospital staff” including “Drs, nurses, cardiologist, management, admin.” He did not reveal the reason for his hospitalisation or the duration of his stay.
Representatives for Malik did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment.
Malik’s health update comes on the same day he released his fifth solo album Konnakol. The star was set to celebrate the day with several stops at record stores across the East Coast. After Malik shared news of his hospital stay, his official fan account confirmed that those appearances were cancelled.
Earlier this week, Malik postponed a special fan event set for April 13 at London’s Circuit, Kingston. The event was slated to include a Q&A with the musician and “exclusive footage,” according to Banquet Record’s website. Malik addressed fans in a message shared via Banquet Records: “I’m really sorry but unfortunately I am sick and I won’t be able to make it to the UK this week as planned,” he wrote. That event has been postponed until May 21.
