Days before their Aussie tour was set to kick off, Ireland’s Fontaines D.C. have announced a run of rescheduled tour dates, now set to take place later in the year.
2020 has already been a little bit of a rough one for Aussie fans of Irish rockers Fontaines D.C.. Originally set to make their Australian debut as part of the Laneway Festival back in February, the group made an 11th hour withdrawal from the fest, citing “recording commitments” as the reason.
Fortunately, the group were able to plot a bunch of new dates, set to kick off on April 21st and featuring stops Sydney, Brisbane, and two shows in Melbourne.
Of course, more bad news was on the horizon with the global COVID-19 pandemic causing the group’s postponed tour to once again be pushed back. Now though, Fontaines D.C. have revealed their Australian tour will indeed take place this year, with their visit now scheduled for December.
“Unfortunately due to COVID-19 and the advice from the government, we’ve had to reschedule our Australian dates this April,” the group wrote in a statement. “We’re happy to say we’re coming back to play these shows this December.
“Tickets will remain valid so please hold onto them. We’re looking forward to seeing you then and in the meantime, keep safe x”
With rave reviews for their live shows and their 2019 debut Dogrel, Fontaines D.C. are undoubtedly one of those bands which, two decades from now, will inspire music fans to recall wild stories about seeing their first-ever Australian tour – when it eventually takes place.
Tickets for the band’s Brisbane show are on sale now, with all other dates sold out.
