Connor Storrie puts his shapeshifting skills on display in the latest promo for Saturday Night Live. Ahead of the Heated Rivalry breakout star’s hosting gig, he cycles through his best accent impressions in a deadly duel with comedian James Austin Johnson.
The battle starts off simple with Storrie and Johnson in cowboy western mode. It amps up from there with the 26-year-old cycling through his best German, French, and Shakespearian impressions before securing the win with an Ilya Rozanov classic. “When you get to hell,” he says in his character’s cutting Russian accent, “tell them Rozanov sent you.” Storrie punctuates the jab with a shot from his finger guns, which brings Johnson crumbling to the ground.

Storrie will host the late-night series on Feb. 28 with musical guest Mumford & Sons. “As an actor, I have a pretty broad range of what I appreciate, which kind of makes option paralysis more feasible. It really just comes down to the part,” he recently told VMan about the influx of opportunities that has followed the success of the hockey romance series. “I’m a very visual person, so if I read something and I can see it plainly, I feel excited and comfortable right away. With Ilya for example, the moment I read it, I could fully see that person and embody him. Going forward, I just want to be in more things. I’ve never really done a comedy, l’ve never really done a horror — I’m still very new to working. I want to stretch out, be bold, and see what sticks.”

SNL will check the comedy box, at least. After Storrie makes his debut, the rotation of hosts and musical guests on the show includes Ryan Gosling with Gorillaz on March 7 and Harry Styles pulling double duty on March 14.
