“Australasia’s biggest party” is kicking off this weekend in Christchurch – here’s what you need to know.

Electric Avenue has grown into a multi-stage, multi-genre festival that brings together legacy acts, global stars and some of the region’s most in-demand artists. Thanks to an expanded site and the addition of a second outdoor stage, the 2026 edition is on track to host a record 45,000 a day.

Kicking off this Friday, February 27th, music fans are set to descend on Hagley Park for the two packed days of live music. The biggest talking point on the lineup is undoubtedly the return of Split Enz, who will reunite for a special 50th anniversary performance. Their Friday headline slot will be their first time performing together in almost 20 years.

The 50th anniversary celebrations have also included an archival project, ENZyclopedia Volumes One & Two, which was released in November. The collection digs deep into the group’s formative years, charting the evolution of a band whose creative fearlessness pushed New Zealand music into new territory. Following their reunion at the festival, Split Enz will head on an Australian tour – see here for details.

Australian DJ and producer, and Rolling Stone AU/NZ cover star, Dom Dolla will headline Saturday night, bringing his high-energy house sound to Christchurch after a huge run of international and hometown shows, including a sold out show at Madison Square Garden and a crowd of over 40,000 at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium.

He’s joined by a dance-heavy lineup that includes Pendulum, Basement Jaxx, Leftfield and Röyksopp, ensuring the after-dark hours stay loud.

Across the two days, Electric Avenue offers something for almost every taste. Friday’s bill leans into pop, funk and alternative with artists like Becky Hill, The Streets, L.A.B, Supergroove and Sudan Archives. Saturday expands the scope even further, with Kesha, Ocean Alley, Peking Duk, NO CIGAR, Dub FX and Tiki Taane all appearing across multiple stages.
