Woody and Buzz Lightyear are back with the official trailer of Toy Story 5 dropping today, this time facing a challenge that feels extra relevant in 2026: the rise of technology.
The trailer picks up after the bittersweet ending of Toy Story 4, where Woody walked out on Bonnie’s toybox to explore life with Bo Peep. In this next chapter, we see him reuniting with Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the gang as they try to reclaim Bonnie’s imagination – now at risk of being swallowed up by a sleek new smart tablet called Lilypad.
Per Variety, Lilypad – voiced by Greta Lee – isn’t your average gizmo. Shaped like a cheerful frog and packed with digital bells and whistles, she represents a stark threat to old-school play.
And while the toys’ response might look like a straight-up showdown at first glance, director Andrew Stanton makes it clear the film is less about good vs evil and more about how cherished childhood rituals evolve when screens start stealing the spotlight.
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz, joined by familiar voices like Joan Cusack (Jessie), Blake Clark (Slinky Dog), and Tony Hale (Forky). Fresh faces, including Conan O’Brien and Lee, bring new energy to the story, expanding the Toy Story universe while preserving its heart.
