Neil Young has canceled all of his 2026 concert dates with the Chrome Hearts.

The singer-songwriter announced the news via his website, the Neil Young Archives. “I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time,” he wrote. “Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well.”

The European trek, which Rolling Stone included on its list of the most anticipated tours of the year, was slated to kick off June 19 in Manchester, England. It was supposed to continue through the U.K. and Europe, concluding in Udine, Italy, on July 26. Elvis Costello and the Imposters were scheduled to open on select dates.

Young assembled the Chrome Hearts in September 2024 at Farm Aid in Saratoga Springs, New York, months after he pulled the plug on his Crazy Horse trek (he later alluded that “a couple of us got sick”). Young and the backing band — guitarist Micah Nelson, organist Spooner Oldham, Promise of the Real bassist Corey McCormick, and POTR drummer Anthony LoGerfo — toured Europe and North America last year, playing dazzling sets of fan favorites like “Ambulance Blues” and “Cowgirl in the Sand.” Their last show was the Painted Turtle benefit concert in October.

“That’s the other cool thing about the Chrome Hearts that I think keeps Neil energized,” Nelson told us last fall. “He knows he can do anything. Whatever era of Neil or whatever deep cuts, we can learn stuff pretty quick and deliver something. And especially because we have Spooner, it’s like we can do the Harvest Moon stuff in a way that really feels like the albums, and we can go delicate and we can get loud and ragged and do everything in between.”

The news of the tour cancellation arrives days after Young doubled down on his plan to remove his music from Amazon, and he gifted all of it to the people of Greenland in response to President Donald Trump’s threats against the nation. “I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government,” he wrote. “It is my sincere wish for you to be able to enjoy all of my music in your beautiful Greenland home, in its highest quality. This is an offer of peace and love. All the music I made during the last 62 years is yours to hear. You can renew for free was long as you’re in Greenland. We do hope other organizations will follow in the spirit of our example.”
