New Zealand alt-pop duo Balu Brigada are bringing their live show back to Australia later this year.

In support of their acclaimed debut album Portal, the brothers – Henry and Pierre Beasley – will kick off the tour at The Triffid in Brisbane on May 28th, before stops in Adelaide on May 20th, Perth on May 31st, Melbourne on June 4th, and Sydney on June 5th.

A ticket presale will run from 10am (local) on Wednesday, February 4th before general ticket sale at 10am (local) on Thursday, February 5th. Sign up here.

Portal, released last August, finds the duo pushing their boundaries and cementing their place as one of the most vital new voices in alternative pop. The album includes breakout singles “So Cold,” Backseat,” and the existential pop anthem “What Do We Ever Really Know?” – each one offering a glimpse into the band’s evolving sound and introspective lyricism.

“So Cold” soared with over 65 million global streams, a No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, and a late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!. The track’s success, including a placement on EA Sports’ FC 25 soundtrack, marked a major breakthrough for the duo, earning them the title of Billboard’s Chartbreaker for April 2025.

Meanwhile, “Backseat” landed at No. 58 in the triple j Hottest 100 of 2025.

Portal also landed at No. 20 on our 50 Best New Zealand Albums of 2025 list. “It’s safe to say Balu Brigada are one of the biggest success stories in modern New Zealand music,” we wrote. “The fact the brothers wrote and produced Portal entirely on their own makes their debut even more impressive.”

The album was built over three years across cities like New York, Berlin, and their native Auckland, with each place leaving a unique sonic fingerprint. From the heavy, grungy textures of the NYC sessions to the serene, introspective energy of their roots in Aotearoa, the duo curated a sound that blends indie rock urgency with alt-pop finesse and festival-sized ambition.
