Tame Impala’s “End of Summer” has won a Grammy.
The electronic anthem, off their October album Deadbeat, took home Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the 2026 Grammys, which kicked off Sunday night in Los Angeles (Monday morning, Australian time).
Deadbeat, which landed at No. 26 on our 50 Best Australian Albums of 2025 list, marked Tame Impala’s (aka Kevin Parker) first new music since 2020’s The Slow Rush. Unlike anything Parker’s musical moniker has released to date, Deadbeat is more consistent in emotional tone than his previous records, finding club-friendly techno nestled amongst sparser, more minimal creations.
“Kevin Parker leans into his signature kaleidoscopic psychedelia, layering lush synths and textures over beats that feel alive and summer-ready. Some critics questioned its cohesion and commercial leanings, but that doesn’t dull its hypnotic pull,” we wrote of the album.
“Deadbeat thrives in its own warm, woozy universe, a record best absorbed in full and at your own pace. It’s summer captured on record: messy, bright, and intoxicating, with Parker at his most immersive yet.”
The album debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Charts, behind Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl. Though it meant Tame Impala missed out on a third-straight No. 1 album, it did ensure all five albums from the Perth-formed outfit have scored top five debuts; Innerspeak and Lonerism peaked at No. 4 in 2010 and 2012 respectively, while Currents hit No. 1 in 2015 and The Slow Rush topped the chart in 2020.
Deadbeat did, however, clinch No. 1 on the Australian Albums chart, as well as the Vinyl chart.

Parker won his first-ever Grammy Award last year for his work on Justice’s “Neverender”, which also won for Best Dance/Electronic Recording. This 2026 win marks his first as a solo artist.
He has previously earned three nominations, all for Best Alternative Music Album. Best Dance/Electronic Recording was the only category he was nominated in in 2026.
