Poking a little fun at your podcast co-hosts at the Golden Globes… why not? During Sunday’s show, SmartLess co-hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett presented an award — and the trio went along with a joke after the show’s House of God joked that Bateman has “never really been my thing.”

Hayes and Arnett started with their presentation of the category, before Bateman interrupted: “Are we just going to pretend that didn’t just happen? The announcer said ‘Jason Bateman is not really my thing.’ Who says that?”

“Honestly, a lot of people say that,” Arnett responded. “Jason, you’re not everybody’s thing. That’s OK.”

“I think you’re great. I loved Ozark,” Hayes said.

“What was it about?” Bateman questioned.

“It was about 3 seasons too long,” Hayes joked. (Ozark ran for just four seasons on Netflix.)

The trio then presented the category of Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy and the award to Jean Smart, who won for her role in Hacks. Bateman joked, before presenting to Smart: “This person is about to like me!”

The trio was also among the nominees tonight in the new Best Podcast category for SiriusXM’s SmartLess, the SiriusXM show they started in July 2020. They were up against Call Her Daddy, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, The Mell Robbins Podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, and NPR’s Up First. Poehler won.

Bateman is a one-time winner of a Golden Globe in 2005 for Arrested Development in the Best Actor in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy category.
