If Oasis can make a comeback, so can the Spice Girls.

On a new episode of the Rolling Stone Uncut podcast, Melanie C spoke about fresh speculation that the iconic girl group could reform in the near future, prompted by Victoria Beckham, who shared a social media post at Oasis’ recent concert at Wembley Stadium, writing, “Tempting…”

The UK singer said major reunions like the Gallagher brothers and fellow pop group Five has sparked new excitement.

“It’s such a privilege to play to that many people and they’re losing their shit, do you know what I mean? It’s like pinch me moments,” she said.

“I would love to see that happen and I love seeing bands like Five because I understand the story. They had their moment, sometimes things are difficult for young people to get their heads around this massive life change, the schedules are hard, there’s fallouts, all of that. They’ve come back, they’ve rekindled their friendships, they’re selling out arenas, and they’re doing so many things they didn’t do the first time around. So, it’s really beautiful to see, and people love it. It’s about the joy that it brings to people. I think the nostalgia is something really special.”

As well as Beckham’s social media tease, her recent Netflix documentary premiere was also attended by all Spice Girls members, excluding Mel B who was reportedly working overseas at the time, which only gave fans more reason to speculate.

“You know what I think has happened? I think as time moves on and we all become very reflective of the time we spent together, and I know Victoria’s felt very much that going through the documentary process,” Mel C said.

“Potentially [a reunion] is more likely because we look back really fondly at those times. I live in hope, it would be lovely. We did tour without Victoria in 2019. Of course we missed her, but the shows are incredible. We could do it again without her, although it would be better to do it with her.”
