Song You Need to Know: SPEED, ‘Ain’t My Game’

SPEED’s forthcoming EP ‘ALL MY ANGELS’ is shaping up nicely

SPEED

Jack Rudder

The second taste of SPEED’s forthcoming EP ALL MY ANGELS is a rallying cry.

The bouncy, groove-driven riffs in “Ain’t My Game” and its shouted vocals create a tough and compelling sound, with lyrics addressing living one’s truth instead of being caught up in a fantasy world.

It follows the previously released single “PEACE”, a ferocious cut that finds the group at their most urgent and unflinching.

Produced, recorded, and mixed by Elliot Gallart at The Chameleon Studios, ALL MY ANGELS comes in the wake of profound grief, following the passing of three close friends in recent years. Those events brought intense heartbreak to SPEED’s community, but over time, they’ve magnified what the group have always held as their central ethos: To love unconditionally, without fear or regret.

The three songs on the EP reflect on grief while honouring the memories of those lost, and mark the band’s heaviest-hitting material to date.

Emerging out of the inner depths of Australia’s hardcore scene, SPEED are a grassroots success story. Comprised of Jem Siow (vocals), Aaron Siow (bass), Josh Clayton (guitar), Dennis Vichidvongsa (guitar), and Kane Vardon (drums), the group have dominated stages around the world on their rise becoming a to global powerhouse.

SPEED featured in Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s Future of Music 2025 series, while their debut album, ONLY ONE MODE, landed at No. 19 in our Top 100 Australian Albums of the 2020s So Far list. It also won the Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album category at the ARIA Awards. SPEED were also nominated in the Readers’ Choice category at the recent Rolling Stone Australia Awards.
