Mark Ronson has discussed the upcoming feature film that has been greenlit based on his newly-released memoir, Night People: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City.
As Variety reported last week, the Grammy and Oscar-winning producer’s book, will be adapted to hit the big screen via Plan B, the production company co-founded by Brad Pitt.
Plan B has had major success in recent years with blockbusters like “Moonlight”, “F1” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” as well as the Emmy-winning Netflix series “Adolescence”.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Ronson said the deal only came about two weeks ago when friend and current Plan B co-president, Jeremy Kleiner, reached out.
“[Kleiner] just loved the book,” Ronson said.

“He was like, ‘I think this could be a great film.’ And for me, I’m kind of a modest guy. It’s my life.
“I was just so happy to be finished with the book. But it’s a brilliant era, and they make such brilliant films. I’m so excited to see what they want to do with it. It feels like it’s an era and a story. Whether it’s my story from that era that hasn’t quite been told.”
As for what the film will look like, whether it gets the Hollywood treatment ala Bohemian Rhapsody based on Queen icon Freddie Mercury or an original film inspired by events shared in the book, Ronson admitted that most other details are yet to be finalised.
“I actually don’t think they’ve even decided yet, so it could be whatever,” he shared.
“I think whoever the director is, the visionary who comes into it, [they are] gonna definitely lead that as well.”
The good news? Ronson will get to have a say in the creative, possibly even with the cast.
“I think so, yeah. Only if it’s Timothée Chalamet will I agree on this picture,” he joked.
“I think [Plan B] make such fucking great films and I’m just down for whatever they wanna do.”
