Australian duo Teether & Kuya Neil celebrated their debut album, YEARN IV, with one of the coolest Rolling Stone AU/NZ In My Room sessions in recent memory.

The lo-fi performance clip was recorded during rehearsals for their headline show in Naarm/Melbourne and their striking Golden Plains appearance in March, offering a glimpse of the sprawling, eclectic sound of their debut album.

Recorded in Melbourne and completed in London, YEARN IV showcases Teether & Kuya Neil’s global influences. The album, which featured in our best Australian music roundup, blends Teether’s clear, vivid lyrics with Kuya Neil’s modern production, creating a cohesive mix of local and international styles.

The album includes previously released singles  “ZOO”, “BLUSH”, “DIAL UP”, and “SEA LEGS”, as well as collaborations with Alice Skye on “CHANEL” and Nerdie on the opening track “SCRATCH THE FLEA POINT”.

YEARN IV continues the duo’s exploration of musical and cultural boundaries, blending elements of rap, punk, electronic, and metal influences. The album addresses themes of identity, aspiration, and navigating life on the margins, shaped by their experiences growing up as outsiders in suburban Australia.

Teether & Kuya Neil previously released the mixtape GLYPH in 2021 and their follow-up STRESSOR in 2023, which charted in the Australian Independent Top 10. The duo also performed at festivals and venues including BIGSOUND, Melbourne Music Week, RISING, and Meadow, supporting both Australian and international artists.
