The outspoken musician and activist Tom Morello has assembled a wide array of artists for a playlist in protest of President Donald Trump and his Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)’s attacks on immigrants. Trump’s administration is looking to ramp up its widespread detention and deportation of immigrants, utilizing tens of billions of dollars in funds from his “Big Beautiful Bill.” Morello has been a longtime critic of Trump.
Getting straight to the point with its title, “Fuck ICE,” the 65 songs Morello curated feature tracks politically critical of several eras and include a diverse lineup of genres, celebrating diversity in the face of an increasingly authoritarian movement. “A rocking little soundtrack to enjoy while you drive those bastards out of your neighborhood,” Morello captioned a post on Instagram where he shared the photos of some of the artists appearing on “Fuck ICE.”
In addition to solo songs of his own and from Rage Against the Machine, there are tracks from Bruce Springsteen (who has recently been directly threatened by Trump), the White Stripes, Led Zeppelin, Rise Against, Pearl Jam, Refused, Public Enemy, Idles, Jane’s Addiction, Devo, Living Colour, Rush, Gogol Bordello, Willie Nelson, Downtown Boys, Roger Waters, the Pogues, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Dropkick Murphys, The Clash, Ice Cube, Kneecap, and Townes Van Zandt. It also includes collabs Morello has made with GZA, Cypress Hill, Vic Mensa, and Leikeli47.
Morello, who recently served as the music director for the late Ozzy Osbourne’s final show in Birmingham, England, will head on tour this fall; it kicks off on Nov. 13 in Chicago. “The last big event before they throw us all in jail!” he quipped on Instagram when announcing the dates.
