MELODOWNZ – “Eastdale Blues”

If you need a new rap track to lock into this winter, MELODOWNZ delivers with “Eastdale Blues”. The Avondale MC’s gritty, stream-of-consciousness track, first teased on Instagram in 2023 and following his electronic-leaning EP MELO & BASS, is produced by Ghos and Leon Jay Dee, reflecting his journey from Avondale to international stages.

D.C. Maxwell – “Jesus’ Son”

Now based in Melbourne, D.C. Maxwell returns with “Jesus’ Son”, his first single since his 2023 Taite Music Prize-nominated debut album Lone Rider. The track swaps his country-folk for raw alt-rock, tackling the climate crisis with punchy lyrics and a very intense one-take video filmed in Melbourne’s Flinders Street station.

Adam Hattaway and The Haunters – “Two Roads”

Adam Hattaway and The Haunters are back with a darker edge on “Two Roads”, the latest single from their upcoming album Hot Variety, out September 5th via Leather Jacket Records. Partly written in sleep, the brooding track draws on the true story behind Heavenly Creatures and combines raw acoustic guitar with haunting organ and bowed guitar.

Alphabethead – “Kirby’s World”

Alphabethead is the music project of Whanganui producer and turntablist David Morrison. He’s released a new single, “Kirby’s World”, a trap-inspired number with kalimba sounds, created using sound design, synthesis, and turntablism.

Producer and vocalist Frau Knotz has dropped her second EP Digital Plastic Surgery, blending diverse electronica and dance sounds. The lead single “Left Eye Lunar” is a high-energy 140bpm track highlighting her evolving style.
