Savannah Clarke is Australia’s sole representative in Now United, the global pop group with over 6 million followers.
Founded by Simon Fuller in 2017, Now United brings together 19 singers and dancers from 19 countries. The group is currently touring across Hong Kong, Portugal, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and more, while also searching for two new members to join the team.
“There’s a lot of us,” Clarke casually tells Rolling Stone AU/NZ during a recent visit to hometown Sydney. “The whole idea is to create a family and bond that takes us on this journey together.”
Originally from Sydney, Clarke has lived in Los Angeles for the past three years, balancing recording, rehearsals, and life far from home. “I love Australia with my whole heart,” she says. “Getting to represent Australia in Now United is the best feeling ever.”
Ahead of their latest shows, Clarke told us about growing up in Sydney, her favourite Aussie memories, and what it means to be part of a pop group that connects fans all over the world.
Savannah Clarke’s Favourite Australian Memories
1. I miss the scenery a lot, like the beaches, the food, the coffee, my family, my friends. I love everything about being back home, it just makes my heart so warm.
2. I’ve been living in LA for three years, surrounded by Americans and people from all over, and every time I say I’m grabbing my “thongs” for the beach, people freak out — I have to explain, “No, no, flip flops!” Same with sayings like “far out” or “chockers” — no one says “chockers” here! And I love how we shorten everything: servo, Macca’s, arvo. It just makes life easier. I love that about Australia.

3. Cold Chisel’s “Flame Trees” is one of my favourites to play on piano. I grew up listening to Aussie bands like Australian Crawl and Jet. “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” is still such a tune. Oldies but goodies!
4. I grew up watching H2O: Just Add Water. Funnily enough, a lot of the people in my group know it too! Sina was like, “Oh my god, I used to watch that show!” I thought it was just an Aussie thing. There’s also this movie called Breath about surfing. I really love that one too.
5. I haven’t explored all of Australia yet, but I’m from Sydney and there’s this place called Gordon’s Bay. It’s hidden along the coastal walk between Clovelly and Coogee. It’s the most beautiful beach. You can bring your dog, swim, jump off the rocks, then tan on them. It’s stunning in summer. I always tell people to go there if they’re doing the Bondi to Coogee walk.
