After gaining international attention opening for Fred again.. on his Australia and New Zealand tour last year — and with her remix of his track “places to be” racking up over 2.6 million Spotify streams — Messie has quickly become one of Aotearoa’s most exciting new names in local dance music.
Fans can expect a high-energy set that runs into the early hours. Messie will take over Auckland’s Studio the Venue on Saturday, September 13th, then play Wellington’s San Fran on Saturday, September 20th.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 4th at 12pm. My Live Nation members can access a presale from 11:00am Wednesday, July 2nd until 11:00am Friday, July 4th. Fans can register at livenation.co.nz.
In an interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ last year, Hills spoke about her background in music as a former drummer:
Love Music?
Get your daily dose of everything happening in Australian/New Zealand music and globally.

“I’ve played drums since I was 15 and studied music technology at uni, which I just graduated from. I also play guitar and was in a band for one and a half years with a friend, playing a lot of alternative R&B. Learning the ropes of the Wellington indie scene set me up well for this.”
She described her sets as a genre-blending, bootleg-heavy ride: “It’s strong with breakbeats and different edits of singalong songs. There’s Bali funk, Jersey club, Juke, ghetto tech, techno, jungle. And then there’s a bunch of easter eggs in it. ”
Alongside her New Zealand shows, Messie has also played major festivals including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and R&V. She’s confirmed for Pohoda Festival, Hidden Festival, Motion, Truck Festival, AIASOUND and All Points East in the second half of 2025.
