Winston Surfshirt is stepping back into the spotlight with the announcement of his new album Winston and a trio of headline dates across Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this spring.
Presented by MG Live, the tour will see the genre-bending producer, singer and rapper perform at The Princess Theatre in Brisbane on September 26th as part of this year’s Brisbane Festival, before heading south to Melbourne’s 170 Russell on October 17th, and finally taking the stage at Liberty Hall in Sydney on October 18th.
These shows will mark Winston’s first headline dates in some time, and fans can expect an immersive, groove-soaked live experience celebrating both his past hits and his forthcoming fourth studio album. Titled Winston, the new record will arrive on July 25th via Sweat It Out, and promises to showcase the project’s signature blend of hip-hop, funk, soul and lush pop textures, all built around Winston’s instantly recognisable falsetto and effortless cool.
The new tour also coincides with the release of his latest single, “JEEP,” out today (June 27th), which offers a taste of what’s to come. With a laid-back bounce and smooth brass lines, the track is vintage Winston – introspective, melodic and danceable in equal measure.
First emerging in the mid-2010s, Winston Surfshirt has steadily cultivated a loyal following thanks to his genre-fluid approach and magnetic live presence. From early breakout singles like “Be About You” to collaborations with the likes of Genesis Owusu and Cosmo’s Midnight, he’s carved a lane of his own within the Australian music landscape.
Across three albums – Sponge Cake (2017), Apple Crumble (2019) and Panna Cotta (2022) – Winston Surfshirt has become synonymous with a lush and layered sound, drawing from jazz, hip-hop, soul and R&B. His ability to channel golden-era funk with modern flair has earned him spots on festival stages around the world, from Splendour in the Grass to SXSW.
Now, with Winston, the artist returns to centre stage with new stories, new sounds and a new chapter. This upcoming tour will be a rare opportunity to catch the full force of Winston Surfshirt’s vision in intimate rooms — and for fans old and new, it’s not one to miss.
