Gwen Stefani went back in time 20 years for her American Music Awards performance. The singer was sweetly introduced by her husband, and fellow AMAs performer, Blake Shelton, before taking the stage to travel back into her catalogue.

“Let’s hear it for my one and only, the one and only, Gwen Stefani,” Shelton said before the singer took the stage.

Stefani opened with a slow, soulful track off her new Bouquet LP, “Swallow My Tears.” But the party truly started when the singer began a medley of her hits from the aughts. Stefani dove into a lively rendition of her 2006 hit “The Sweet Escape” from her second solo LP, charming the audience. She closed out the fun medley by turning the stage into a marching band with her iconic track 2005 track “Hollaback Girl.”

At the end of 2024, “Hollback Girl” and Stefani’s debut solo studio album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Other performers at the 2025 American Music Awards — returning following a two-year break — included host Jennifer Lopez, Lainey Wilson, Renee Rapp, Janet Jackson, Benson Boone, Gloria Estefan, and Stefani’s husband Blake Shelton, will took the stage with a song from his latest album For Recreational Use Only.

Although Stefani has been focused on her solo career in recent years, she embraced an opportunity to reunite with No Doubt for the FireAid benefit concert in January. During the show, the band performed “Just a Girl,” “Don’t Speak,” and “Spiderwebs,” their first gig together since their Coachella 2024 shows.
