Coast Arcade are back with their favourite track to play live – the loud, fuzzy indie-pop jam “Acetone”.
Following the buzz of their last single “City Limits”, which pulled in over 411K views on YouTube and scored global radio play, including BBC Introducing, “Acetone” is another energetic release that captures the shift from a southern summer to a northern one, full of warmth and nostalgia. It’s their fourth single in a row as they build towards a debut album that promises much.
Coast Arcade’s latest was recorded at Big Fan Studios with Tyler Burke, mixed by Clint Murphy, and mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. It also comes with a live-style music video, which you can check out below.
On the live front, they’ll be supporting fellow Auckland band Flaxxies at their homecoming show this Saturday at Double Whammy in Tāmaki Makaurau. Tour details at flaxxies.nz.
Fronted by Bella Rafflyn (vocals, guitar), with Thom Boynton (drums), Leo Spykerman (bass), and Arlo Birrs (guitar), Coast Arcade have become an exciting name on the local indie-rock scene.
They’ve already opened for the likes of Lime Cordiale, Bootleg Rascal, The Grogans, The Terrys, Teenage Dads, and The Beths.
Their 2023 debut EP Next To Me introduced listeners to their blend of indie, surf, and punk, featuring tracks “Surf Club” and “Highest Heights”. Their single “Baited” reached #3 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart.
You might also know Rafflyn from her solo project. Her 2023 debut single “Overdrive” hit No. 4 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart, followed by “Corduroy Boy”, a confident slice of grunge-pop. In between releases, she played to a near-sold-out crowd at Auckland’s Tuning Fork for her debut headline show.
She also popped up on episode four of Georgia Lines’ new season of INTROS, sitting down for a thoughtful chat and delivering a stunning live performance. You can watch that here.
Coast Arcade’s “Acetone” is out now.
