Blusher are back with their new single, “Racer”
The Melbourne pop trio first teased the track back in January while opening for Sugababes on their Australian tour.
With its rush of high-energy, euphoric pop, “Racer” is the kind of song you crank up when you’re feeling down or stressed, the one that pushes you to keep going.
Of the song, Blusher explain, “Being a ‘Racer’ means being your own stunt person, the main character of your own life. It’s being the person to start the dance floor while the rest of the party is worrying about what people think”.
They continue, “The song was written the morning after we went to a secret rave in downtown LA. We danced under a bridge and watched as people lit off fireworks from its highest point. The next day, sleep deprived and inspired, we bottled that feeling of euphoria and Racer was born.”
“We want ‘Racer’ to be the song that people turn up loud when they’re feeling sad or stressed, that helps them strut into the most unfazed, unstoppable, fastest version of themselves. It’s ultimately about our friendship and how we bring out the ‘Racer’ in each other.”
They’ve also dropped a visualiser that shows the trio getting ready for a night out, which you can watch below.
Currently on tour in North America with Swedish duo NOTD, Blusher will also perform at the Coca-Cola Sip And Sounds Festival in Austin this Friday, joining a lineup that includes Halsey, Khalid, Benson Boone, and Suki Waterhouse.
Over the past two years, they have supported acts such as Sugababes, Tove Lo, Aurora, and The Rions in Australia, as well as Daði Freyr across the UK, Europe, and North America. Their UK appearances have included performances at Leicester Square for London Pride, BST Hyde Park with Kylie Minogue, Latitude Festival, and their debut London headline show. In December 2024, they completed their first sold-out Australian headline tour.
In 2024, Blusher released five singles, including “Somebody New”, “Overglow’, “24 Hours in Paris”, “Accelerator”, and “Rave Angel”, following their 2023 debut EP Should We Go Dance?.
Blusher also made an appearance in Rolling Stone AU/NZ‘s ‘Future of Music’ series, alongside 25 Australian and New Zealand artists tipped for global breakthroughs.
“The Melbourne pop trio pump out addictive anthems one after another, luring you to the dancefloor without hesitation,” we wrote. “They place female friendship and joy at the heart of their infectious songs, and their fun-focused approach refused to take music too seriously.”
