In the vein of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile,D4vd and Kali Uchis sing to a love that they’ll be holding onto if the world comes to an end. On Friday, the R&B singer released his new collaboration with Uchis, “Crashing,” off his upcoming, debut album.

“Kali has been one of my FAVORITE artists for sooo long and I’m honored and blessed that we were able to collaborate on such a beautiful song,” D4vd said of the collab on Instagram.

The soulful ballad hears both singers singing about their anxieties while agreeing to stick to their lover’s side even if the world goes awry. Uchis joins in later in the song for a sweet verse serving her signature vocal cadence: “When the world comes crashin’ down/I know where I’ll stand, right next to my baby, keep holding my hand/’Cause the enemy may try to conquer and divide/Well, I’ll stay by your side every day and every night.”

The Uchis-D4vd collaboration has been long in the making after Uchis shared his song “Here With Me” during an Instagram Live back in 2022. According to a press release, D4vd wrote the song in Houston “with Kali in mind” and sent it to her before she wrote her own verse for the track.

“Crashing” precedes D4vd‘s debut album Withered, out April 25, following a pair of EPs: Petals to Thorns and The Lost Petals, both which dropped in 2023. He also released single “One More Dance” earlier this month.

When discussing Withered, D4vd shared earlier this month: “This album means SO much to me you have no idea the blood sweat and tears that came with trying to create this project over the past 2 years. Constantly starting over and over and over until there was nothing left on this audio landscape of a canvas than thoughts, melodies, and emotions that were unequivocally me.”

As for Uchis, the Colombian star released the deluxe edition of Orquídeas in August last year and joined Cris Mj and Jhayco on “Si No Es Contigo (Remix)” in October. She’s been teasing a new album for this year.
