A “hypnotic catharsis” is what Fade Evare have labelled their new single, which couldn’t be a more apt description.
Fade Evare are an electronic alt-pop four-piece from Melbourne, formed around siblings Mira and Tori Holleman (formerly of Retiree). They deal in dubby, bass-heavy arrangements, blended with hypnotic, trip-hop production, and fresh pop textures. Think Portishead, Massive Attack and The xx, in 2025.
Their new release, “Keep Talking”, is the sound of an ecstatic high. It’s the soundtrack to that moment when you find your mate on a frenzied dancefloor and grab them for a ‘quiet’ D&M (deep & meaningful chat, for older readers). Deliriously coming up, serotonin releasing at an excitable rate, you both, as the track’s lyrics keep saying, “[…[ keep talkin’ till I feel good again… till you feel good again.”
The siren-like sound that rotates through “Keep Talking” is captivating, the elevated vibrational sounds causing a supreme shift in energy. It’s a total mood booster, is the simplest way to put it.
The accompanying music video is a loop visualisation of a cloudy sky with a hand throwing a set of keys. The loop is slowed right down to match the rhythm of the track (watch above).
The release of “Keep Talking” comes after it was announced last week that the quartet are the latest signing to Astral People Recordings, in partnership with PIAS Australia.
“Keep Talking” is accompanied by “Yamaha Dreaming”, which was their first unofficial track release at the end of 2024.
Astral People Recordings is thrilled at their latest signing.
“The first time we heard Fade’s music, it hit us like nothing we’d ever heard before – impossible to label, impossible to ignore,” said Chris Rigney, head of label at Astral People Recordings.
“It’s a raw, unpredictable blend of genres that cuts through the noise, something you don’t find much of these days.”
Fade Evare’s “Keep Talking / Yamaha Dreaming” is out now.
