Ahead of her debut tour of Australia, Isabel LaRosa sat down with Rolling Stone AU/NZ.

The Maryland-born rising pop artist will perform headline shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney this month in what will be her first visit down under.

As well as the debut shows, LaRosa discussed some of her latest singles, new music and the recent controversy surrounding TikTok in the US, given that the singer has garnered an audience of millions on the app.

Check out the full chat below.

Have you ever visited Australia before?
No, I never have! I’m so excited.

Given you have a large following on socials and particularly TikTok, what did you make of the almost-ban? How important is socials in connecting with your fans?
It was honestly very crazy thing to watch for me and a lot of other artists that have promoted their music through the app. Over the years, it’s given me a platform to create a fanbase and I’m so grateful for that.

Your single Muse intertwines themes of admiration and infatuation with an alt-rock edge. Did you approach the songwriting process differently compared to your earlier tracks like “i’m yours” and “favorite”?
Muse was very fun to write because it felt different stylistically from my other music. Our goal is to always just write a great song but we took a different approach with this one. It was interesting blending our world into a different sound.

You’ve worked closely with your brother, Thomas, on writing and producing many of your tracks. How does your sibling dynamic influence the creative process?
Thomas makes the process complete, I truly don’t know what I’d do without him. He knows me so well that making music together feels as natural as talking. He’s like the other half of my brain.

Can you tell us about any plans for a debut album?
Well I have lots of plans for many things. I’m keeping lots of secrets let’s just say that.

Anything you’re keen to see or do during your Aus tour?
I honestly just want to see like a massive spider or something. From a distance. And all the faces of fans I haven’t met yet!
