Bad Bunny has been on a non-stop promotional run for his new album Debí Tirar Más Fotos for more than two weeks. On Sunday, he championed the record’s release with a crowded celebration in New York at Caribbean Social Club, better known as Toñitas. On Monday, he threw on his best Seventies disguise and performed a rendition of Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” in a NYC subway station. All of this promo has kept Bad Bunny so busy he had to squeeze some time to do laundry into his latest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The superstar musician was tapped as the co-host of the show on Monday but couldn’t end the stint without taking the stage. For the debut live performance of ‘Voy a LLevarte Pa PR,’ Bad Bunny performed with a set replicating a laundry room. He’s stuffing clothes into the washing machine as he launches into the first verse, where he sings about meeting a girl in Miami and offering to romance her in Puerto Rico. There’s a nonchalance in his proposal that matches the domesticity of the performance.
Debí Tirar Más Fotos is about home, after all. Bad Bunny’s intense release schedule included a stop by Rolling Stone‘s New York office just two days after Christmas. “I’ve always made it clear to people that I’m a real person, and my music reflects that,” he shared during an extensive conversation about the record. “I’m a real person, a Puerto Rican who is 30 years old, and my entire career, no matter what position I’m in, this is what I am, and that’s what my music is about. I make songs about heartbreak, about perreo, and about social issues because this is what I’m like, as well as so many other people.”
On Monday, Bad Bunny also announced a residency in Puerto Rico at the iconic “El Choli” Coliseo de Puerto Rico. With 21 shows to complete, he won’t be far from home. He might even have time to get his laundry done.
