Everyone is feeling Wicked these days. The film starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda has inspired memes, plenty of social media discourse, a surprise piano performance from Jeff Goldblum who plays the Wizard of Oz, and Christmas Day singalong screenings. All the fans want to sing along, including Camila Cabello.
Cabello took to Instagram over the weekend to congratulate the stars and to sing its praises, literally. “You were brilliant Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo,” she captioned an Instagram story, which a fan shared on X, formerly Twitter. “Can’t stop listening and singing.”
The story includes a black-and-white video of Cabello belting one of Wicked’s signature songs, “Defying Gravity.” Cabello, who released C, XOXO in June, previously showcased her own musical film chops when she starred in 2021’s Cinderella. In January, Cabello will join Kane Brown, GloRilla, and Lil Wayne to perform during College Football Playoff weekend in Atlanta; she is set to headline the city’s State Farm Arena on Jan. 19.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Jon M. Chu-directed Wicked: Part 1 became the highest grossing movie based on a Broadway musical ever at the domestic box office, drawing $214.3 million in its second weekend since it opened. (And the weekend itself has broken domestic box office records, grossing $420 million from moviegoers, according to Comscore via Deadline. The final tally is expected on Monday.)
As Deadline noted on Saturday before Sunday’s estimation, Wicked had already grossed $358 million worldwide, making it the fourth highest grossing Broadway musical following Mamma Mia! which grossed $612 million, Les Miserables at $442.7 million, and Grease which garnered $396.2 million.
