King Stingray made such a splash with their debut album from 2022. For a year or more, they collected enough bounty to sink a ship, nabbing the coveted Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition, the Australian Music Prize, ARIAs, AIR Awards, NIMAs.

With that acclaim comes pressure, however, the kind that could sink this loveable Australian indie band from Northeast Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. That won’t happen anytime soon though.

For the Dreams is a celebration of life, home, friends and good times. On “Southerly”, a harmonious gem that wields a synth refrain and thunderclap that stepped out of the early Eighties, Yirrŋa Yunupiŋu and Roy Kellaway tell us, “I don’t wanna be anywhere else right now,” and we want to be there with them. On “Lookin’ Out”, we’re told, “We don’t know what’s coming up ahead, but if we work together, we can figure it out.” Riding the wave with these Yolŋu surf rockers, yes we can.
