Following the initial lineup announcement in September, WOMAD Aotearoa has just added 13 more acts to the 2025 festival lineup.
New additions include 47Soul, pioneers of the Shamstep music movement from Palestine/Jordan, Cuba’s Ana Carla Maza, and Bala Desejo from Brazil, known for their fresh blend of MPB, samba, and pop.
Also joining the festival are Delgres, a trio that fuses blues with Caribbean influences, and Etran de’Lair, who bring desert rock vibes with their Tuareg roots. Serbia’s Goran Bregović & His Wedding & Funeral Band will showcase their mix of Balkan folk, rock, and classical sounds, while India’s Satish Vyas & U Rajesh will combine traditional sitar and tabla with modern influences. Scotland’s Talisk and Australia’s Ukulele Death Squad will also hit the stage.
From Aotearoa, the festival will feature CHAII, The Beths, WHO SHOT SCOTT, and Black Comet.
These acts join a lineup that already includes Queen Omega from Trinidad and Tobago, UK musician and composer Nitin Sawhney, Australia’s folktronic act Amaru Tribe, and NZ’s The Veils, fronted by Finn Andrews and joined by the NZTrio. The Veils will also be debuting their new album Asphodel live at the festival.
WOMAD Aotearoa takes place from March 14th-16th, 2025, at Brooklands Park and the Bowl of Brooklands in Ngāmotu (New Plymouth). Tickets are on sale now at www.womad.co.nz.
