Olivia Rodrigo emerged unscathed from a sudden fall through a stage trap door during her concert in Melbourne, Australia yesterday, Oct. 13.
Early on in the show, Rodrigo was hyping up the crowd at the Rod Laver Arena when she unexpectedly plunged right into the gaping section of the stage. Despite what looked like a heavy fall — and a massive gasp from the crowd — Rodrigo immediately popped back up and said, “Oh my God, that was fun! I’m ok!”
Though understandably still a little flustered, Rodrigo handled the situation like the ultimate performer, climbing back on stage and quipping, “Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s alright! Ok, where was I?”
Then, picking right where she’d left off, Rodrigo let loose a massive, “How we doing tonight, Melbourne?!”
Rodrigo kicked off the Australian leg of her Guts world tour last week, and she has a few more shows scheduled through next week. Prior to Australia, Rodrigo played one of her biggest (and most meaningful) shows ever at the Philippine Arena in Manila. Rodrigo is half Filipino and wrote about the show on Instagram: “Been dreaming of this show for a while. My first time in the Philippines and also my biggest venue ever!”
Rodrigo is also prepping for the release of her Guts tour film, which is slated to hit Netflix on Oct. 29 “For those of you who didn’t get a chance to rock out in-person, now you can have the best seats in the house!” Rodrigo said in a statement. “And to the fans who cheered, screamed, and danced with me, I am so glad we get to do it all over again!”
