Haiku Hands will release a deluxe edition of their second album, Pleasure Beast, next month.
The deluxe album will arrive on November 22nd, offering fans five new bonus tracks, including the newly released “Kicks.”
Listen to “Kicks,” which was co-written with Julian Hamilton of The Presets and produced by Rob Amoruso (G Flip, Baker Boy), below.
A music video for the alt-dance group’s new single will drop on Tuesday, October 15th, and it’s one not to be missed. Haiku Hands filmed the clip guerrilla-style with some friends at a busy Sydney shopping centre.
“When we were making the film clip for ‘Kicks’ our mates who were dancing kept doing filthy dirty bass faces and it made me very happy. For me that’s a sign of a successful song.” explains Beatrice Lewis.
“We worked with Joel Ma, Mad Zach, Julian from The Presets and Rob Amoruso on this one. It was a great combination of excellent mad sonic scientists. You know that feeling you get when you’re rocking new kicks. That’s what we want this song to make you feel.”
Pleasure Beast was released at the end of 2023, going on to earn the group a nomination for Best Independent Electronic/Dance Album at the 2024 AIR Awards.
“Being a ‘Pleasure Beast’ is about trying to enjoy all the little moments of life and making the most of it… It’s a bit rebellious because the grind tells you not to do that. It says to keep working and keep hustling, but the ‘Pleasure Beast’ is all about seeking joy,” the group told Rolling Stone AU/NZ last year.
In the same interview, Lewis discussed the seriousness behind the group’s oft-whimsical lyrics. “Even though Haiku Hands may come across as light, or comical, all our words are intentional. I like that we can convey serious messages in a way that’s almost dada-esque.”
Haiku Hands’ “Kicks” is out now. Pleasure Beast Deluxe is out Friday, November 22nd via Spinning Top Records.
