Hip hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has reportedly been placed on suicide watch while in custody, as he awaits trial for alleged sex crimes.
Combs was arrested on Monday (US time) at a Manhattan hotel in relation to alleged sex trafficking and racketeering, with incidents allegedly dating back to the late 2000’s.
He was indicted a day after his arrest, with prossecutors accusing him of using coercion to make women participate in so-called “freak offs,” which they described as “elaborate and produced sex performances.”
Federal agents have claimed they seized more than 1000 bottles of baby oil and other lubricants during raids of Combs’ homes.
The rapper, who has been known throughout his career as Puff Daddy, P.Diddy and Diddy, has been denied bail twice by prosecutors since his arrest.
Sources have told NBC and People the move for suicide watch monitoring is “procedural with high profile clients”, with People also reporting that the rap icon is in shock and his mental state is unclear.
A spokesperson told NBC that Combs is “strong, healthy, and focused on his defense. He is committed to fighting this case and has full confidence in both his legal team and the truth.”
