Eminem will release an extended deluxe version of his recent LP, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), on Sept. 13.
The rapper announced the Expanded Mourner’s Edition of the album on social media alongside a short video featuring a milk carton with a missing notice for Slim Shady. “Have you seen him?” Eminem inquired with the announcement. A tracklist for the expanded edition has yet to be revealed.
The news of the deluxe edition comes as the rapper is scheduled to open the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 8 p.m. ET.
The rapper will perform material from his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady, for the first time on television. Eminem is also nominated for eight VMAs this year, including Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, and Song of the Summer for the Death of Slim Shady’s lead single, “Houdini.” If he wins just one award, he’ll surpass Peter Gabriel as the most decorated male artist in VMAs history.
Eminem dropped The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) in July after teasing new music on social media. The album was preceded by the lead singles “Houdini” and “Tobey,” which featured fellow Detroit rappers Big Sean and BabyTron. It spans 19 tracks including early-career callbacks in a skit titled “Guess Who’s Back” — one of three interlude-like tracks — and “Guilty Conscience 2,” the follow-up to his Dr. Dre-assisted single “Guilty Conscious” from 1999’s The Slim Shady LP.
The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) marked Eminem’s first full-length release since 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By.
