Lil Baby was arrested Monday morning and charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, Rolling Stone can confirm. The rapper was later released on bail. His attorneys say they’re now “actively investigating” the circumstances of the rapper’s arrest.
Lil Baby, born Dominique Jones, was detained around 5 a.m. on the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard on Aug. 26. TMZ, which was first to confirm the arrest, claimed that the rapper was seen on video being passed a gun inside the Encore hotel on the Vegas strip. He was released on $5,000 bail from a Clark County Detention Center.
“To be clear, Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit,” said his attorneys Drew Findling and David Chesnoff in a statement to Rolling Stone. “On his behalf, we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”
Lil Baby’s concealed carry permit from Georgia is not valid in the state of Nevada, which recognizes concealed weapons permits from 28 states. Georgia is not one of them. Findling and Chensoff did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment on this detail.
Last night, Lil Baby shared a flyer for an event at Los Angeles’ MainRo bar, which is set to feature a J-Harden birthday celebration on Tuesday. He has yet to address the circumstances of his arrest. (Over the weekend, he also shared on Instagram that his album was “80% done,” and he apologized for the delay in the album. His last LP, It’s Only Me, dropped in 2022.)
