The Paris Olympics are heating up. The torch relay through France is already underway, currently passing through Yvelines into Hauts-de-Seine. After those territories have been covered, the second to last stretch of the journey before the opening ceremony will begin tomorrow, with Snoop Dogg serving as torchbearer for the Saint-Denis portion of the relay.
The rapper joins the hundreds of torchbearers who have assisted in the Olympic flame’s journey across France, which began on May 8. Saint-Denis is part of stage 67 on the route to Paris. The stage begins in Quartier Pleyel before moving through Village Olympique into Saint-Denis. From there, it moves to Canal Saint-Denis into Parc de le Villette-Club France, Canal Saint-Martin, and Concert Basilique de Saint-Denis. After that, its next stop is the Olympic Cauldron.
The final torchbearer who will close out the weeks-long Olympic relay journey has yet to be revealed, but they have some big shoes to fill. Snoop has been an unwavering team player since beginning his stint as a guest commentator at the 2024 Paris games. When the games officially kick off on July 26, the rapper will be the go-to source for special reports for the Olympics primetime show on NBC and Peacock. Last month, he made an appearance during Team USA’s track and field trials and completed the mock 200-meter dash in 34.44 seconds.
Snoop will be attending Olympic events, stopping in at trademarks throughout Paris, and catching up with competing athletes, as well as the friends and family members cheering them on. His play-by-play about a crip-walking horse from the equestrian event at the 2021 Tokyo games is what landed him the commentator gig in the first place. “I’m going to meet the horse in real life. He’s the returning champ,” the rapper said earlier this year. “So I got to go meet him — you know what I’m saying? — and let him know I’m a big fan.”
