"In 1994 I was assisting a photographer who was covering the Big Day Out festival, I was allowed to shoot some of my own stuff in the pit and thought Bjork looked incredible, it was still the early days where she wore her hair in multi space buns. These were shot on highly pushed Kodak black and white film."

"In 1994 I was assisting a photographer who was covering Soundgarden in Australia whilst they were touring and at the Big Day Out festival, I was allowed to shoot some of my own shots in the pit as he was covering the whole set. This was my first ever published image back home in the UK, gracing the back cover of RAW magazine and opening the doors for me to start shooting for editorials. It is not my finest shot but it holds a place in my heart for what it represents."

The Darkness

"In 2004, as part of a year documenting a year with the Darkness, I flew to Sydney and travelled up to the Blue Mountains for a video they were recording for their single ‘Love Is Only A Feeling’, it had all the rock cliches and guitar solos filmed by circling helicopters and story skies."

"This image of Brody was taken as part of a shoot of the Distillers for Kerrang magazine, her then husband Josh Homme came down to collect her. I love how glamorously grungy she looks."

"This shoot never was published, at the time maybe they didn’t make the grade but it is interesting with the passing of time as image can become more evocative of a time. I was commissioned by a UK magazine to photograph Nick but the room hired at a hotel was very pokey with dominant bookcases and light fittings. I do like this shot despite the obstacles."

"In 2004 I photographed The Vines at a studio in London. Craig was very agitated and gurney that day, we thought he was being a twat but it turns out he has aspergers. I am glad to say I am much more educated on ASC as I have a 15 year old with Aspergers and even though I still photographed him as he presented himself, it makes sense to know that actually flashes could have been quite triggering!"

Internationally acclaimed photographer Scarlet Page (the daughter of Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page) has captured some of the world’s most recognised artists including the Foo Fighters, Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse and Australian acts such as Nick Cave and Silverchair.

Ahead of her debut photography exhibition ‘Captures’ in May, Page has shared a selection of works with Rolling Stone and taken readers behind-the-scenes by sharing a memory from the shoot with each artist.

Behind The Gallery presents Scarlet Page ‘Captures’ at 205 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst from Thursday 5 May – Saturday 6 May 2023. A special artist talk will take place on Saturday May 6 between 10am – 12pm followed by a Q&A session.
