With just days to go until the 2022 edition of the Rolling Stone Australia Awards, details surrounding the hosts and performers at the event have now been unveiled.
The Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards will pay tribute to the best and brightest on the local music scene, when the debut ceremony takes place at The Argyle in Sydney, on Wednesday, March 30th.
An invite-only event for music industry insiders and artists, it’s managed to become a high profile event, with last year’s awards also featuring performances from award winners Tash Sultana and Mia Rodriguez.
Some of the biggest artists and bands were up for nomination at the inaugural awards, with the likes of Tkay Maidza, Tame Impala, and Midnight Oil also serving as big winners on the night.
As it stands, this year looks to be even bigger than the last, with huge names such as Amy Shark, Gang of Youths, Keith Urban, The Kid LAROI, and Kylie Minogue all up for awards. Needless to say, it’s shaping up to be a rather large-scale event, and with national concerts taking place in the lead-up to the awards, its impact and reach are spreading on a national scale.
Now, as anticipation ramps up for this year’s event, it’s been announced that the 2022 edition of the awards will be hosted by iconic broadcasting duo Matt & Alex. Having originally worked together as two of triple j’s most beloved duos, their partnership was revived in 2020 when they joined Southern Cross Austereo to launch the ‘All Day Breakfast’ podcast.
“Rolling Stone is a cultural icon in Australia’s media landscape, so it was only fitting that they ask Australia’s most iconic male podcast duo to host their awards,” the pair explained. “Unfortunately, Hamish and Andy were unavailable, so now they’ve got us. But we’re stoked!”

Meanwhile, the awards are also set to feature live performances from two of Australia’s most acclaimed performers, with Amy Shark and Ruby Fields tapped to appear on the live stage.
Shark, who is up for Best Record and Best Single for Cry Forever and “Baby Steps”, respectively, will perform alongside the likes of Fields, who is up for Best Record for Been Doin’ It for A Bit, which debuted atop the ARIA charts last year.
“Our intention with the Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards is simple: use our unique and iconic brand to acknowledge the contribution of local talent,” explained Poppy Reid, The Brag Media’s Managing Editor in Chief.
“We are so thrilled to be able to host two of the most tenacious music visionaries as performers this year,” she added. “It’s been another challenging 12 months in music, and Amy Shark and Ruby Fields have taken their careers to new heights despite the constant hurdles they faced.”
