In a year where it seems as though the only thing that movie-lovers could do was to watch some of cinema’s greats from the comfort of their couch, Rolling Stone is set to discover the 100 greatest movies of all time.
For as long as movies have existed, so too have opinions about movies, and whether or not the latest cinematic masterpiece is in fact better than the last cinematic masterpiece that graced screens around the world. Of course, opinions are subjective, and while it seems like an impossible task to truly discover what the greatest movies ever released are, that’s exactly what Rolling Stone hope to do with their upcoming poll.
This one won’t be left up to the world’s critics however, rather, it’ll be up to readers to have their say in order to help create the ultimate list of cinematic greats. Whether it’s a critically-acclaimed gem, an overlooked classic, or a remake that never quite saw a wide release, anything is eligible for nomination.
Powered by AHEDA, the Australian Home Entertainment Distributors Association, voting for the upcoming list begins on October 19th, and runs until October 30th, with readers able to vote for three movies they deem to be the greatest of all time, and one bonus “wildcard” movie.
The wildcard option allows readers to share their ultimate guilty-pleasure movie that wouldn’t usually make a list such as this. Vote for your favourite wildcard movie, along with 25 words or less as to why you chose that particular film, and you’re in the running with a chance to win a Sony 65-inch 4K TV and 4K UHD Blu-ray player worth $2000.
The full countdown begins on November 2nd, so take a look back into your 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD or VHS, cast your mind back to those seminal movie moments, and pick out some of the greatest films of all time when voting begins on October 19th.
