Just months after it was first released, Tones And I has emerged with her first official remix, sharing the blackbear rework of “Ur So F**kInG cOoL”.
Released earlier today, the track sees the Australian global chart-topper’s commentary on superficiality reworked by US artist blackbear. The pair first connected earlier this year after Tones And I invited blackbear to her sold-out Los Angeles show at the Fonda Theatre. The artist fell in love with Tones And I’s performance and talks of a collaboration were soon underway.
“This is my first official remix and I’m so pumped to have collaborated with an artist like blackbear who I have so much love and respect for!” Tones explained in a press statement.
“Finally Tones And I let me have a crack at this one,” blackbear added. “I first heard it live in Los Angeles and the energy was so chaotic, all of us hearing a song about how fake we are. I fucking loved it and asked her after the show if I could do something.”
The result is a bouncy, club-ready composition that sees blackbear adding his own verse, continuing the biting theme utilised by Tones throughout the track. The tune also comes accompanied by a jaunty lyric video, made by Toon53 Productions, which helps to add a bit of context to the track itself.
Tones And I also recently rescheduled her run of Australian tour dates, which had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now set to take place in April and May of 2021, the national dates are on sale now, with support at these shows provided by Jakubi and Billy Davis.
blackbear’s remix of Tones And I’s “Ur So F**kInG cOoL” is out now via Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
