A number of beloved Aussie artists are set to accompany hours spent trying to perfect a kickflip, with the likes of Alex Lahey, Baker Boy, and more joining the forthcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtrack.
It was back in May that the news came forth that the first two volumes of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series were set to be remastered for release later in the year. Most notably however, the announcement noted that the series would keep its original iconic soundtrack, though it was later revealed that a handful of songs couldn’t be secured.
Now, with the remastered games on track to arrive in early September, the new soundtrack has been unveiled, with a number of local names making the cut.
In addition to classics by the likes of Bad Religion, the Dead Kennedys, Goldfinger, and Rage Against the Machine, a new generation of artists will also feature heavily, including Australian names such as DZ Deathrays, Baker Boy, Alex Lahey, and A. Swayze & The Ghosts.
Australian acts aren’t the only new artists to feature on the song list, with more modern-era names such as FIDLAR and Persian-New Zealander CHAII joining the ranks, alongside hip-hop artists such as Machine Gun Kelly and Skepta.
The arrival of the soundtrack comes just weeks before the release of the new game, and shortly before the digital premiere of Pretending I’m A Superman, a documentary that focuses on the impact the Tony Hawk’s series had on the skateboarding industry, and is named for a lyric in the iconic Goldfinger track that featured on the first game.
“Pretending I’m a Superman is a robust, real-life story of our successful video game series as told by those who created it, and many who were inspired by it,” the game’s namesake said in a statement back in May.
