Australian pop-rock outfit Stand Atlantic have released their fifth studio album, Godbreath, arriving just as the band prepares to kick off their national tour tonight.
Out now via Virgin Music Group, the 11-track record marks another creative shift for the Sydney four-piece, who emerged from a period of writer’s block with a renewed approach to songwriting and recording. Rather than chasing a particular sound or direction, the band leaned into experimentation, recording the album live to capture the energy and imperfections of playing together.
The result moves between pop, alternative and heavier rock influences, with frontwoman Bonnie Fraser taking a more unfiltered approach to her lyrics.
The album arrives alongside new single “SO COOL”, a guitar-driven track that came together during a writing session with producer Stevie Knight in Sydney.
“I wrote ‘So Cool’ with Stevie Knight in Sydney, on an unusually dreary summer day, when we were in the depths of a creative rut. The instrumental version came first and we just knew the vibe was cool, so I wanted to hone in on that and play on the idea of ‘coolness’. In doing that, I thought about those ridiculous moments when you just feel shamelessly cool – it’s a fun song to play in your car with the windows rolled down. To make you feel like you’re in the VIP section of life,” Fraser said.
The track follows a string of previously released singles that introduced different sides of the album, including “Velcro”, “Edge of Vegas” and “NEXT2U”.
The release follows a busy year on the road for Stand Atlantic, who have continued building their international audience with headline shows across Europe, support dates with Simple Plan in the UK and appearances on the Vans Warped Tour. Following their Australian run, the band will return to the US for shows supporting Story of the Year and Silverstein.

Their Australian tour kicks off tonight at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, before stops in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, with special guests Knuckle Puck and support from Nightlight. See here for details.
