José González Announces 2027 Australia and New Zealand Tour

The singer-songwriter will return for seven shows in February and March, bringing music from his latest album

José González is heading back to Australia and New Zealand, announcing a seven-date tour for February and March 2027.

The Swedish-Argentinian singer-songwriter will make his first Australian appearance since March 2024, when he toured in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his acclaimed debut album, Veneer.

This time around, González has a new album to share. Released in March, his fifth studio record, Against the Dying of the Light, finds the musician turning his attention to some of the most pressing questions facing humanity, from the rapid development of artificial intelligence to the responsibilities that come with technological progress.

While his delicate fingerpicked guitar work and quietly affecting vocals remain at the heart of his sound, the album takes a more outward-looking approach, exploring the tension between innovation and human connection, and what might be lost in the pursuit of progress.

It’s weighty subject matter for an artist whose understated approach has long been part of his appeal, but González balances those concerns with the warmth, intimacy, and melodic sensibility that have defined his career.

Fans can expect material from the new record alongside favourites from across his catalogue, including “Heartbeats” and “Crosses”, two songs that helped introduce his distinctive sound to audiences around the world.

The tour kicks off at Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on February 24th before heading to Brisbane’s On The Banks series on February 25th. González will then take to the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on February 27th, followed by Melbourne’s Palace Foreshore on February 28th.
