Arguably one of Australia’s biggest exports in recent years, the Teskey Brothers have today unveiled details of their upcoming live record, Live at The Forum.
Recorded during their sold-out four-night stand in Melbourne last November, the group had planned to unleash the new album for Record Store Day last weekend, though restrictions related to COVID-19 forced things to change somewhat.
Recorded to analogue tape and pressed onto 180g double-blue vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, Live at The Forum features cuts from the band’s critically-acclaimed albums Half Mile Harvest and Run Home Slow, alongside a cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy”.
“We thought we’d try and record a live album with a tape machine, which is madness, but that’s our format so it’s the way we wanted to do it,” Sam Teskey said of the album’s recording.
Available for pre-order now, special limited-edition versions of the album (featuring a different cover) will be available through indie record stores, undoubtedly helping to retain some of the magic that Record Store Day was set to inspire.
Though touring has been made quite impossible for the Teskey Brothers during the COVID-19 pandemic, the group have been ensuring their fans are entertained by way of their Stay Home Slow virtual tour, which sees the group premiere exclusive live performances at certain times.
So far they’ve released their cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy”, “San Francisco”, and 2019’s ‘So Caught Up” earlier today.
In related news, the group recently received nominations for three APRA Awards, including Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year, Most Performed Blues & Roots Work and Song Of The Year (for “I Get Up”). This year’s award ceremony is set to be livestreamed on May 26th.
